Put into service from 1976 to 1986, the BB 22200 are bicurrent locomotives, capable of running both under 1500V direct voltage and under 25,000 V / 50 Hz alternating voltage which are the two different voltages used in France. Among the 204 units produced, 8 were fitted with bogies with a 200 km/h reduction as well as on-board signaling called "Cab Signal" which allows them to run on highspeed lines used by TGVs. SimExpress has chosen to model 4 engines among these 8 locomotives. These engines were used with freight trains under the Channel tunnel. They were also used at the head of the very revolutionary MVGV, high-speed courier trains that were running on highspeed lines during off-peak hours with special wagons to reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. These machines are now beginning to be withdrawn from service (in 2020) but some units still remain in yellow livery and are used by the Infra (Infrastructure) activity.
