It was during the summer service of 2000 that SNCF deployed the Lunéa Night Service, a commercial brand providing the customer with a quality service on major national night-time relationships. The client is assured of having air-conditioned equipment, and in sleeper cars, a bed made thanks to the appearance of duvets. The upgrading of night trains has restored their vitality. These improvements were of the taste of the customers who after a disaffection, was again interested in this offer.

File size:    100 Mo Real coach caracteristics : Iconic rolling stock of the French railways since their debut in 1975, the corail coaches (contraction of “comfort on rail”) are nowadays the very last coaches still on duty on classic trains in France. The VU corail coaches are arranged with compartments linked by a side corridor. Two types of constructions were used: the original one (VU75) considered too narrow to arrange the 8 seats compartment wanted by the SNCF, and the “super-large” one (VU78) which appeared in the deliveries that occurred after 1978. File size:    120 Mo Real coach caracteristics : Since the beginning of their commercial service in 1977, these sleeper coaches proved hugely successful in meeting the client’s expectations thanks to their comfort, due in particular to the quality of the suspension of the Y32 bogey, the compartments soundproofing efficiency and the air conditioning system installed for the first time in night rolling stock. These cars have been used on both national and international trains and their many qualities allow them to be still on duty in 2016. Real coach caracteristics :

The so-called "UIC" coaches named after the International Union of Railways were, from their entry into service in 1961, assigned to national and international services on the largest European trains. They were the very first cars in France to implement UIC recommendations: Mielich type access doors, rubber bells in place of the old bellows, unified electrical outlets to make them compatible with other European cars when coupling, 1 WC at each end on the side of the compartments with white window, ease of maintenance by ensuring that a defective part could be changed on any foreign network ... During the massive arrival of coral coaches from 1975, UIC coaches lost their importance on the largest trains and were gradually used on additional trains during large departures, agency trains or occasionally in reserve on regular trains.
